Sorry I didn't make our ukulele evening. Lana reports that each person picked a favourite to play with two rounds of suggestions.
The group decided to put a lot of practice time into Yer so Bad (a Tom Petty suggestion from Lynn). Each person is invited to add a verse to the song.
Please let me know if we forgot to list any of the songs or if you played different versions from what I posted here. I added Come on Up to the House and Passing Through to the site as well. Our next meetup is Wednesday February 3, top floor of the Golden Prairie Arts Council building. - H

We played a lot of songs at our last meetup on Jam. 20 with each member suggesting one of our older songs to play or teaching us a new song. Wildflowers by Dolly Parton
La Vie En Rose Try to Remember Four Strong Winds I'm Yours by Jason Mraz and several more (sorry, I should have been writing them down!) After our meetup, Louis suggested we also try Wagon Wheel Here is a great rendition by the Austin Ukulele Society that she found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-qUx5saYwo And here's a shortened chord sheet (non presentation version) Lana sent: https://app.box.com/s/tvmernpg75sthz8oud7u Our next meetup is tonight, January 27, top floor of the Golden Prairie Arts Council building.

It was great to finally make it to strum club again this past Wednesday after the holiday break.
We played a lot of fun songs including: Wildflowers by Dolly Parton
For next week we hope to try any of the songs we have practiced up to date including The Log Driver's Waltz (song sheet link above), Crazy (we agreed to practice the new chords at home) and Shady Grove for which we received the tabs this week.
Thanks to everyone who brought along new songs to try and to Lana for your great arrangements. If you email me your song sheets I can post them on the site for anyone who couldn't make it to our meetup.
I found the song sheet for La Vie En Rose. Below you will find a link to the PDF (you will note I simplified it a bit when I played it) and the video Lynn mentioned. I also posted the video for my somewhat sketchy rendition of Take One Last Look below. I will bring copies of the song sheets along next week. I tried to figure out the chords from watching Tom Waits version which you can view here.
La vie en rose (ukulele cover, chords in description and here.)
Take One Last Look (Ukulele Cover, strum picking version, my attempt at the chords here.)
Hope to see you all next Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. on the second floor of the Golden Prairie Arts Council building. I will also be emailing you some songs Lana sent me. If you have songs to add, word files or PDF files converted to jpegs can be emailed to me.
