A day and evening full of ukulele playing-- what could be better than that?  The concert at the ALC was mostly successful.  Harvest Moon still needs strum and timing work, but after a slow start, we finished in style.  Ukulele Lady was a HIT!!  We ended up with 12 people-- Louise, Linda and her grandson, Evan, Barry and his grandsons, Kelly and Ryan, Tom, Lori, Judy, June, Verna and Lana. It was a great turnout considering we started with five people.

In the evening we played: Amazing Grace, Down in the Valley, Down on the Corner, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Leaving on a Jet Plane, You Belong to Me, Stand by Me, Love Potion #9, Wagon Wheel, Rox in the Box, Rain and Snow, Rollin in My Sweet Baby's Arms, I'll See you in My Dreams, Sentimental journey, I Can See Clearly Now, Hard Tines, Someday You'll want me to Want You, House of the Rising Sun, Tonight You Belong to Me, Wabash Canon Ball, Side by Side, Walkin' After Midnight, Sonny's Dream, Can't Help Falling in Love, Song for a Winters night, The Cuckoo and our signature set ending song.

Next week we will meet downstairs at the Gallery and welcome Thelma back.

I have uploaded The Cuckoo and Wabash Cannonball and I Can See Clearly Now-- check out the video on Youtube--https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8fWai4h4jg
See you next Wednesday.

Louise, June, Lynn, Judy, Barry, Verna, Linda and Lana met at 6 pm on Wednesday to practice for the ALC concert.

At 7 p.m., we reverted to our normal jam with: Saskatoon Moon, Silver Wings, I'll Fly Away, Take Me out to the Ball Game, The Cuckooo, Sound of Silence, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, Passing Through, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Fifty Miles of Elbow Room, Hard Times, Jolene, Go Lassie Go, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Wagon Wheel, Flowers on the Wall, Don't Be Cruel, Jambalaya, and three new songs--Someday You'll Want Me to Want You, The Next Time I'm in Town and Union Maid.

There is some work to do on several of the songs-- check YouTube for Peaceful, Easy Feeling, Someday You'll Want Me to Want You and The Next Time I'm in Town.

We will meet at 1:00 p.m. at the ALC-- good idea to be tuned up as there is little space to do that on that day.

I have uploaded Jambalaya in G, Rolling in My Sweet Baby's Arms and Peaceful Easy Feeling as well as the revised version of Sound of Silence.

I have uploaded the new songs to to the blog as well.

Here are the Youtube videos for Peaceful Easy Feeling, Someday You'll Want Me to Want You and The Next Time I'm in Town.

Have a great time at the ALC concert!

PLEASE NOTE: Next Wednesday (March 21) we will meet at the Gallery at 6 pm as discussed last week.  The performance at the Lodge will be postponed until April.

We met at 6 pm to practice for the ALC concert. Lynn, Linda, Judy, Louise, Barry, Verna, June (welcome back) and Lana practiced Ukulele Lady and Harvest Moon. Those strums on HM are sounding better all the time.

At 7pm we were delighted to see Tom and Lori and congratulate them on their upcoming performances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival.  We offered to accompany them on our ukes, but Tom thought they couldn't afford us.

We played Side by Side (a great song for the Lodge-- or ALC-- we decided it would be our encore), Saskatoon Moon, (another encore possibility- lol), You Belong to Me, Walk Away, Worried Man Blues, This Land is Your Land, 500 Miles, Darlin' Corey, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Hard Times, Down on the Corner, Wagon Wheel, Cotton Fields, Rox in the Box, Sound of Silence, Working Man, Song for a Winter's Night, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, Grandpa, Fifty Miles of elbow Room, Just Because, Red Wing and our signature set ending song.

Three hours-- and Lynn wasn't ready to quit yet.  We agreed it was a great evening.

I have added Lana's new arrangement of Sounds of Silence here.

Lynn, Judy, Barry, Verna, Louise and Lana practiced Harvest Moon-- it is coming along.

Louise brought Ukulele Lady that will be a cute addition to Harvest Moon at the Active Living Concert.
We also played:  Angeline the Baker, Walkin' After Midnight, Silver Wings, Darlin' Corey, 500 miles, Worried Man Blues, Something, Making Believe, Bring Me L'il Water Sylvie, Rain and Snow, Hey Good Lookin, Have you ever seen the Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Wagon Wheel, Grandpa was a Carpenter and our signature set ending song.

We decided that we need some extra practice on Ukulele Lady, so those people who will be able to attend the ALC concert on March 28th, please come early next week.  We will start at 6:00 p.m. upstairs at the Gallery.

The group decided to play Ukulele Lady at the ALC concert on March 28th.  We will practice next week at 6 pm.

Lana sent out the chords. I have also added them to the blog.

Arlo Guthrie sings it here:

Lana also warned that next week she would bring Sound of Silence by Cynthia Lin. The chord chart has been uploaded to the blog. The tutorial is here:

Louise, Lynn, Lorna, AJ, Verna, Barry, Cathie and Lana played:

House of Gold, The Cuckoo, Red Wing, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Go Lassie Go, Wabash Cannonball, Michael Row the Boat ashore,Angeline the Baker, l See you in My Dreams, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Making Believe, Saskatoon Moon, Wildflowers, Worried Man Blues, Thee Little Birds, Imagine, Tonight You belong to Me, Harvest Moon and our signature set ending song.

We especially practiced the strum for Harvest Moon -- led by Louise-- not too fast, not too loud-- 10 times-- we'll do this every week.

We got tired of practicing the same songs over and over-- but last night we played Red Wing for the first time in ages and it was GOOD!  Practice-- interesting concept!

Lana successfully signed up for the Jamboree. I realized I wasn't a member (you can join for $5 through the website). You can check out the group's new web page where you can purchase a membership and register for the Jamboree in September here:
