January 25, 2017

Present were:  Ian, Linda, June, Judy, Cathie, Louise, Lynn, and Lana.

We played Love Me Tender in three ways; starting with an easy version with just the three chords.  The next time we introduced the C maj7 and the sus chords.  Louise and Lana played the chord melody.  We think that this could be a performance piece with everyone practicing the version they wish.  Then we'll put it all together.  We also played a lot of other tunes-- introducing the "on deck song" to speed things up.

Songs included: Wagon Wheel, In the Jailhouse Now, Let it Be, Red Wing, Ramblin' Rose, January Wedding, Making Believe, You Don't Know Me, Suitcase in my Hand,, Grow Old with You and a few others

Sounds like a good night. I will try and remember to have some song selections at the ready for next time. Also, remember to bring your items for our "feast" next Wednesday. There will be more details via email.

Sounds like a small but enthusiastic group met to play some new songs. As Louise put it, after practicing the same songs for so long for our two gigs before Christmas "the damn broke" and the group is introducing a lot of new fun songs.

Lynn, Louise, Cathie, Sandy and Judy reported that they attended last week.

Lynn introduced Sonny's Dream, I Can't Even Walk, and The World is Not My Home. Cathie brought Black Velvet Band. Next week Louise said she would bring copies of You Can't Always Get What You Want and Angeline the Baker. I will see if I can get Lynn to send me the chords and lyrics of the songs he introduced in the meantime and email them to everyone. Sounds like Louise is working on some songs that employ the clawhammer technique so perhaps she can give us a demo of that as well.

We will meet again next week at the gallery Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
