Louise, Lorna, Lynn, and Cathie attended. We didn't keep track of the songs. We did play some new ones, which were quite nice. Hopefully we will see you this week.
- Louise
Some of us were snowed in again. Here is a nice arrangement of the appropriately-named Song for a Winter's Night by Gordon Lightfoot put together by Lana. We played the Good Lovelies version last week and can share that version in person if you like.
Hope to see you this Wednesday at the gallery.
- Heather
Update: there are a few misplaced chords in this version. Watch for an updated one soon.
We meet to strum and sing Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Golden Prairie Arts Council building, otherwise known as the old train station, in Carman, Manitoba, Canada.

We had a smaller group as some people were away for the holiday season or had other commitments.
Louise read thank you cards showing appreciation for our performances at the Sonatrice Singers Christmas Cheer Board concert and the Active Living Centre Christmas Supper. As per our wishes, a donation of $200 in our name was made to the Golden Prairie Arts Council renovation fund in lieu of payment for our performance at the supper.
We played Song for a Winter's Night (the Good Lovelies version), Stand by Me, Lie Down, Class of '57, Log Driver's Waltz, January Wedding, Farewell to Nova Scotia, Wildflowers, Walk Away and from the Vancouver Ukulele Circle book, Echo Beach, Sea of Love, Fire and Rain, I'm Into Something Good, and Your Are My Sunshine. We ended with our signature set closing song.

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our practice at the Carman Active Living Centre. It was nice to have the chairs and stands set up and ready to go for our performance the next evening. On Wednesday we ran through our songs a couple of times.
We played two sets on Thursday evening, our non-Christmas tunes between the ALC supper and dessert and our sing-along Christmas songs after desssert. Guests commented that they enjoyed our singing and playing as well as the background information on the songs delivered by Lana, Louise, Lorna and Lynn. Both sets were a hit with the crowd and we received a standing ovation and a request for an encore at the end. So, we played Christmas in Killarney to end the evening. Thanks to Lana for your dedication in organizing all of our music arrangements and our performance.
Here is the official list of the songs we played:
First set
Wagon Wheel
Cryin' Time
Love Potion #9
Red Wing
Sentimental Journey
Walkin' After Midnight
Second set
White Christmas
Winter Wonderland
Jingle Bells
We Wish You A Merry Christmas
Our official signature set ending song
and our last minute encore song
Christmas in Killarney
Thanks also of course to our hosts for the invitation to the ALC supper. Instead of accepting an offer for free meals for the group (we are quite a large group of close to 20 now) we asked that a donation be made in the name of the Boyne River Ukulele Group. June and I had supper tickets and agreed the supper was delicious.
We will meet again next Wednesday, December, 21at the gallery for anyone who can make it. Some of course have other seasonal commitments, as did some of our members who were sadly unable to make our performance. Hope to see you all again soon!

Some people couldn't make it due to poor road conditions after the winter storm. Those who could practiced our songs for the performance at the Active Living Centre as well as Don't Be Cruel and some new songs from the Vancouver Circle Book. Please send me a note if you remember your song choices and I will post them here.
Our next practice on Wednesday, December 14th will be at the Carman Active Living Centre at 7:00 p.m. The Active Living Center Christmas Dinner on Thursday, December 15th starts at 6:30 so our set will be around 7:30. We are planning on doing a set between the meal and dessert and then the sing-a-long after dessert.
